The vineyards of this estate extend around the ancient Querceto castle, which dates back to the 16th century, and has been owned by the Francois family since 1897. The family produce a range of high quality Chianti wines in their modern, well-equipped cellar and manage their vineyards carefully, using organic fertilisers and natural pest control to protect the environment.
Produced from Vernaccia grapes grown in the Querceto vineyards in the hills surrounding San Gimignano, the wine was cool fermented in stainless steel tanks before ageing in tank prior to release. Tuscany is famous for the production of Chianti, but whites from San Gimignano have been increasing in popularity in recent years. Very different in style from international varietals such as Sauvignon, the whites from this area offer a completely different flavour profile with their nuttiness and hints of bitter almonds (in a good way!).
