Penny Streeter OBE and her family purchased the historic Leonardslee estate near Horsham in West Sussex in 2016, with the first vines planted the following year. The Barn Swallow featured on the LEONARDSLEE label is symbolic of Penny herself and her annual migration between her two passions: her home in South Africa and her English sparkling wine estate. The swallow also has deep significance in Sussex, where many birds complete their long journey from Africa.
Leonardslee Family Vineyards produces wines exclusively from its own estate-grown grapes and practises regenerative viticulture across the vineyards. The estate is a certified member of Sustainable Wines of Great Britain (SWGB). In recognition of this commitment to quality and sustainability, Leonardslee Brut Reserve 2021 was awarded the SWGB Best Wine Trophy at the WineGB Awards 2025.
